Food safety is very important in the hospitality and tourism industry. In Australia, laws require that all food handlers have the knowledge and skills to handle food safely. Nationally, the Australian New Zealand Food Standards Code provides information on what skills and knowledge is required to handle food safely.

Completion of this course will support individuals and businesses in meeting the requirements of Food Standard 3.2.2A – Food Safety Management Tools, a new national standard to improve food safety in food service, retail and catering businesses.

ADVANCED Hospitality Hygiene for food handlers

The Advanced AHA Hospitality Hygiene for Food Handlers Course has been specifically designed for management and senior kitchen staff working in WA’s hotels, hospitality and tourism businesses.

The Advanced Course will help key staff ensure best practice is adhered to and is a more thorough version of the standard Food Handlers Course. 

The AHA recommends this course be completed by management and senior staff with key responsibilities that includes upholding relevant policies and procedures. This is not a food safety supervisor certificate which is required for certification as a food safety supervisor but is a short course recommended for senior staff to provide enhanced knowledge.

FOOD STANDARD 3.2.2A

Standard 3.2.2A – Food Safety Management Tools is a new standard introduced across Australia to improve food safety.

More information on the Food Safety Management Tools can be found in the Guide for food businesses on Food Safety Standard 3.2.2A, which has been developed by the Department of Health.  This guide will help you find out if Standard 3.2.2A applies to your food business and understand what you must do to meet the requirements of the standard.

Register

Register for the AHA Hospitality Hygiene for Food Handlers online training course.

Step 1

Complete course modules

Carefully read through the course content, taking notes as you go. Complete all the module assessments before progressing to final submission.

Step 2

Submit your ID and assessment

Upload a photo ID such as a drivers licence or passport so our team can verify your identity. Submit your ID and assessment for review.

Step 3

Certificates

After 2-3 business days, successful submissions will  receive an AHA(WA) certificate via email. Certificates and receipts are also available for download by logging into your training course.
